Yippee, it’s finally spring!!! And my cravings for sheer bright lipsticks are firing up! You know, the ones that look like lollipops…
Don’t be mad at me, it’s true that in Dubai, there is no such thing as winter, but still, the months of February and March are a little gloomier than the rest of year and since last week, it’s official, the sun has made a true comeback over here!
So for me, it means that I want a lighter makeup and very bright lips to bring a little more life on my face!
Last summer, I was obsessed with the Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy lipsticks, which were among the best makeup products released in 2014 IMO. The brand launched at the same time a sheerer version of the product in the Asian market, the Pure Color Envy Shine.
And this year, you can finally get your hands on them anywhere!
Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Shine lipstick, presentation:
What the brand is saying about it:
“Color with the power to transform your lips, your look, your attitude.
Sculpts: Multi-faceted pigments create definition. Lips look beautifully shaped, sculpted, curvaceous.
Hydrates: Time-Release Moisture Complex helps capture and seal-in hydration. Lips feel continuously moisturized throughout the day.
Illuminates: Saturates lips with brilliant color and shine—in one stroke.
Creamy texture glides on moist, covers evenly. Sensually soft and smooth, luxuriously comfortable.
The lipstick bullet is slim-shaped to sculpt the curves of your lips. The case feels like luxury in your hands. And with one click, case closed.”
This lipstick is simply a lighter variation of Pure Color Envy released last year.
It has the same characteristics as Envy: the “sculpting” effect brought by 3D pigments, and also the moisturizing effect but the pigmentation is obviously less important. The same goes for the long-lasting power.
The finish is also more luminous but don’t worry, it’s not a simple tinted lip balm! (It would be a bit expensive for a lip balm wink )
Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Shine lipstick, my thoughts:
Let’s look at this little gem in more detail!
–Innovation: like its big brother, the Pure Color Envy, it claims to have a “sculpting” effect and it’s true, you can really feel the plumping effect on your lips.(and the use of the lingerie vocabulary here is not really a coincidence wink ) The 3D effect pigments do a very good job at “volumizing” withj this formula too! The lips really do appear effectively juicier and fuller.
–Texture: the texture is very “gel” like and is super fresh. It’s very moisturizing, but not rich and oily as some other lipsticks can be. This is the kind of product that I love to re-apply on my lips throughout the day!
–Application: very easy, the stick is precise and it glides easily on the lips!
–Pigmentation: not bad for a semi-sheer lipstick! The colors are very nice and very visible.
–Color: again, the range is rich in pretty colors. And you have 16 different beautiful shades to choose from! So I fell for two very spring type colors (or summery, but here, it’s the same): Surreal Sun, a lovely peachy coral and Blossom Bright, a very fresh bright pink. But I was tempted by many other shades… (Yes, even the nudes!)
–Lasting power: not too bad for a product of this category, it easily lasted 3 hours on my lips. Personally, I don’t mind reapplying this lipstick after a few hours, because I love the moisturizing effect!
–Perfume: it doesn’t smell of anything. For me, this is the only drawback of this product. A nice perfume would have been greatly appreciated! sad
–Packaging: the gorgeous blue and gold packaging is the same as Pure Color Envy, but in a slimmer version. I love it, it’s so sleek! And yes, don’t worry, the closing is still that amazing magnetic click. wink
–Price: not cheap at all. It’s a bit of a shame that the price is the same as the Pure Color Envy, because the Envy Shine is supposed to be a “lighter” version. So I would have appreciated a lighter price too! The price is the same for both of them: $30.
So, in summary:
[wprs-pros][wprs-cons]
I had a real crush for these lipsticks and I really pictured myself wearing them all summer! smile
Finally, here are the swatches:
