Today, I won’t talk about the second collab between BECCA and Jaclyn Hill, which is absolutely EVERYWHERE (and very out of stock) but I will instead tell you more about the BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Luminous Blushes. These blushes are not a limited edition and also very interesting, in my opinion.
I love blushes. And it’s quite funny because for years, I didn’t use any, simply because I didn’t know which color to use and where to apply it on my cheeks. It turned out that the problem was mainly that my blush brush was 10 times too big and obviously made me look like a clown with any color because it just basically applied the product everywhere…
So now that I am properly equipped and that I’m able to see the difference that a blush makes on my face, I couldn’t do without it!
Most of the time, I use matte blushes because they’re more natural but it’s true that a beautiful shimmery blush can give a lot of light to the face and especially in summertime, I love this glowy effect!
And some fresh and glowy cheeks, that’s exactly what the Australian brand BECCA promises with its new Shimmering Skin Perfector Luminous Blushes.
When these blushes were released and I saw the first pictures, I thought they were probably too iridescent for me but after seeing some swatches, I thought that they looked very pretty. So, I finally decided to order two of them: Camellia and Snapdragon.
BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Luminous Blushes, presentation:
What the brand says about them:
BECCA’s Shimmering Skin Perfector™ Luminous Blush features multi-dimensional, versatile blushes to create a subtle, shimmering flush. Specially designed to flatter all skintones, this collection is inspired by the fan favorite Shimmering Skin Perfector—just the right balance of color and light.
Wear them alone for subtle blushed luminosity, or as a blush topper layered on top of your favorite matte blush for an added pop of radiance.
These blushes are part of the BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector range, same as the raved-about highlighters (like the famous Champagne Pop created in collaboration with the YouTuber Jaclyn Hill).
When I read the description given by the brand, I was expecting a very shiny blush, like the highlighters in the same range but they don’t have the same metallic effect.
BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Luminous Blushes are indeed very luminous but with a subtle shimmery effect, without any big chunks of glitter (I’m not a fan of glitter). There are iridescent particles in the formula but they’re very fine, and they just give a perfect glowy effect on the cheek. They don’t emphasize pores or the irregularities of my oily skin, and they give a nice volume to my cheeks.
The range of colors includes 6 different shades that fit all the different skin tones. I chose 2 very Spring/Summer colors: Camellia and Snapdragon.
BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Luminous Blushes, my test and thoughts:
I start with what I love the less in these blushes, the composition. Exactly like in the highlighters from the same range, they have 3 mineral oils derivatives in the ingredients. For a luxurious brand like BECCA (and with these prices!), I don’t really understand this choice of ingredients.
These are cheap and far from noble ingredients… This is the kind of components you usually find in cheap brands, not really in a blush that costs $34. It’s kind of disappointing… uneasy
The blushes are in a very sleek compact with mirror, the same as in the highlighters but smaller.
The finish is quite shimmery. It’s very luminous but without metallic or glittery effect.
Just to show you the difference, here is a photo where I swatched BECCA Snapdragon next to the famous NARS Orgasm, which is very glittery (you will also notice the difference in pigmentation ;P ):
– Color Range:
There are 6 different shades in the range and I really like this choice of colors. They’re all absolutely stunning, very trendy and above all, they match every skin tone, the very light ones and the darker ones.
I chose Camellia, a very fresh light pink with silver reflects, which gives a fantastic glow to the skin and Snapdragon, a sublime pink coral with golden reflects, absolutely gorgeous and which can go with so many different complexions.
They are very, very pigmented! You really need a light hand with these blushes.
The brand also advises to use them on top of a matte blush but honestly, with this pigmentation, it doesn’t seem really necessary!
The application must be very light, with a brush that is not too dense to avoid applying too much product on the cheeks.
My two favorite to use with these blushes are the NARS Yachiyo Brush, which is perfect to diffuse very naturally the blush or the Bobbi Brown Blush Brush which blends perfectly the product on the cheeks.
– Lasting Power:
They’re long lasting. On me, they last 8 hours on the cheeks.
– Value For Money:
I’m a little annoyed by the composition, because I don’t think that the price is necessarily justified with this formula… It’s such a shame, because I really like them. But $34 is still an expensive price tag.
Finally, here are the swatches:
And on me:
- the compact and elegant packaging
- the crazy pigmentation
- the colors, each more beautiful than the other
- the sheen without any glitter
- the price, they're expensive
- the composition with mineral oil, not the best nor noble ingredient
- the brand is not available everywhere (but it will be available in the UAE next month!smile )
I’d be the n°1 BECCA’s fan if they would decide to stop using these kind of ingredient in their formula. But meanwhile, I also have to say that I’m a big fan of the colors and the overall quality of these blushes. Their price is just a bit too high regarding to their composition, in my opinion.
And you, what do you think about thiese BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Luminous Blushes? Tempted? wink
