A new bronzer without any powdery effect on the skin and waterproof, it’s Make Up For Ever’s promise with its latest release, the Pro Bronze Fusion.
A sweat-proof and waterproof bronzer? I’m in!
Here in Dubai, it’s getting very hot and humidity is coming, slowly but surely.
So when I heard about the new MUFE Pro Bronze Fusion , it was clearly in my “makeup products to get absolutely” wishlist. My only concern was that the product was not available in Dubai when I heard about it.
But I saw it in the French Sephora website and I was just waiting for a little promo code to order it. (hint: the French Sephora has sales and promo codes all the time and with Shop and Ship, you can be delivered here in Dubai so easily. It’s simple, I haven’t purchased anything from my local Sephora in ages! lol)
Well for once, the beauty products’ gods have been on my side! bigsmile
I was invited to participate in a MUFE workshop for the launch of these bronzers here in Dubai, one week after the French release (almost at the same time, I couldn’t believe it ;P ).
The event was about contouring, and makeup artists were here to do a full face makeup, with the new bronzers of course.
So, obviously, I had to explain to the charming makeup artist who took care of me that contouring was not really my cup of tea. So she just helped me choose a color that would suit me for a more classic use (as a bronzer) among the 6 existing references in the range.
When I saw the colors, I didn’t really understand how they could be used for contouring, really. The shades are all rather warm (without being orange). And in order to give dimension to your face and create this shadow effect that is the contouring, it’s better to use darker and ashy colors, with cool tones. (If you want to learn more about the difference between bronzer and contouring products, as you can see I did an article that explains all this in detail last year)
The makeup artist advised me the lightest shades of the range, 10M (matte) or 15i (iridescent), for my skin tone.
At the end of the event, the PR kindly offered me the 2 most dark references of the range. To do some contouring, I guess…
You’ll take me for a princess, but I was annoyed. The 2 shades were really too dark for me.
Usually, I rarely do contouring, and above all, as I said, for me, these Pro Bronze Fusion are not good contouring products. They’re perfect to warm up your complexion but way too warm to provide a sculpting effect on the skin.
So after much hesitation, I decided to contact again the press service that takes care of the brand and I asked them if I could exchange the two bronzers they gave me against 2 others that would suit me more . They were adorable and simply sent me the 2 products matching my skin tone and told me to keep the other two (my girlfriends with a darker skin tone were really happy wink ).
But obviously, I swatched them before giving them away to show you the different colors available in the range! (I assure you, girls, I had clean hands wink )
I’ve used them for several weeks now and I’m ready to do my review!
Make Up For Ever Pro Bronze Fusion, presentation:
What Make Up For Ever said about them:
“An ultra natural and waterproof compact bronzer for a summer glow all year long. No trace, no powdery finish, only color.
Pro Bronze Fusion is a gel-powder bronzer that blends seamlessly for a lightweight, foolproof, luminous glow.
Pro Bronze Fusion’s unique formula allows you to sweep on a sunkissed radiance. Let skin impart a summer glow with a natural-looking, radiant finish that never looks powdery. Skin will appear healthy and glowing when you brush on this long lasting, waterproof bronzer that blends on like a second skin.
For best results, apply with the 136 Pro Bronze Kabuki Brush. “
So, it’s a compact bronzer, which is available in 6 shades, 3 matte and 3 shimmery.
Make Up For Ever Pro Bronze Fusion, my thoughts:
– Innovation and formule:
Clearly, the innovation here lies in the product’s formula. It’s simple, I’ve never tried something like this before!
This is a kind of fairly firm dough, much like a compact bronzer but when you put your brush in the pan, there is no powder that comes off. But there is color on the brush. This is a very unique feeling.
After some research, I discovered the texture is obtained thanks to the BouncyGel Technology that gives this truly unique aspect. I’m sorry but I didn’t find much more info on the subject except that apparently, this ultra fine texture is obtained through a baking process at high temperature (which doesn’t explain much, does it? wink ).
There are powders in this formula, and this is Teflon micronized powders. It’s thank to them that the formula is waterproof and ultra-long lasting.
– Color range:
The color range includes 6 shades, all are in a more golden or amber and rather warm in tone, but without being orange. A fair skin will be perfectly fine with the lightest shade, which is rare enough to be pointed out!
The 10M is perfect on my winter skin and the 15i is beautiful in summer, when I’m a little more tan.
– Packaging:
This is a very sleek compact with a cool mirror inside, very easy to carry and convenient. And can you see these delicate engravings on the products, so pretty, aren’t they? :D
– Application:
I mostly use my 2 favorite bronzer brushes: the Bobbi Brown and the NARS, with a slight preference for the NARS one, as it’s more dense, so it’s best to dip in this very particular texture.
I was offered one by MUFE, the Kabuki Pro Bronze Fushion but I find it a little too small for my taste. It’s probably because I’m used to use a larger brushes to apply my bronzers…
For my application method, I prefer the famous 3 or E technique (I also explained it in details in my post How to apply bronzer make-up?).
A warning though: it may takes a little time to build up but the result is so natural that it really worths it!
– Pigmentation and coverage:
The pigmentation is perfect. It’s even an ideal product for beginners in bronzers! It’s simple: it’s impossible to miss.
It’s buildable, you can reapply until you obtain the desired effect and and you’ll never have the oompa-loompa effect you can have with certain other bronzers (yes, Guerlain Terracotta, it’s you I’m talking about).
– Finish:
The Pro Bronze Fusion is available in a matte (10M, 20M eand 30M) and a shimmery version (15i, 25i and 35i).
The matte version is my favorite because it’s very natural while being ultra luminous. It’s not at all a dull and chalky matte, this finish is absolutely perfect!
I didn’t think I’d love the shimmery version as much as I do. It’s not at all an the ultra glittery product I was fearing, but a bronzer with pretty iridescent particles that give a very subtle glow to the face, without making me look like a disco ball. This is the one I prefer for those days I’m really tired or in the evening, for its glam effect! (Dubai is slowly growing on me, I put highlighter every day, can you believe it? lol) (this is the next step :D )
– Lasting power:
I haven’t been able to put it to the test in the crazy Dubai weather, the exquisite combo of extreme heat + humidity, but summer is definitely coming, so I’ll know soon enough… (can you tell I’m slightly obsessed by Game Of Thrones at the moment? No, is it just me? ;P )
Anyway, on a normal hot day (currently, the temperatures are between 35 and 45 degrees), the lasting power is pretty good! It lasts 8 to 10 hours for me.
– Value for money:
The Pro Bronze Fusion de MUFE retails for $36, which I think is a good price for the quality, especially compared to other brands (yep, Guerlain Terracotta, still you I’m talking about).
Finally, here are the swatches:
Here are some comparative swatches of my favorites bronzers to use, which I talked about in my post best of bronzers.
And on me:
I’m sorry, you can’t really see much on my photos. I usually use bronzer lightly, just to give a little more life to my complexion, not really to look tanned.
10M:
15i:
So, in summary:
[wprs-pros][wprs-cons]
A big crush on these bronzers and I almost want to offer myself the 20M to complete the collection to add a more golden effect to my face for this summer! wink
The bronzers MUFE Pro Bronze Fusion are available on the Make Up For Ever website and on the Sephora one for $36.
And you, temptezd by these bronzers Pro Bronze Fusion by MUFE? Which version is your favorite, the matte or the shimmery?

* EDIT 08/06/15 :
I finally bought the 20M, and I find that it’s a better color match for me than the 10M at the moment.
The 10M is perfect for my winter complexion but the 20M really gives you a “sunny glow” which is perfect for my complexion when I’m a little bit tanned.
If I had to use a MAC reference, my complexion is more NC25 now ( in winter I’m NC20 ).
I hope that helps! *

Which is better MUF pro bronzer or hourglass in Dim light ambient powder?? Thank you

Hello Nermeen! :)
I can’t answer you, I’m very sorry. I don’t own the Hourglass bronzer. :(
But I read a little about the Hourglass bronzer and it seems to be a regular pressed powder bronzer, and quite shimmery. The MUFE one has a completely different texture and is available in 2 finishes: matte and shimmery.
I hope it helps! :)
