Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips collection & Matte Revolution lipsticks swatches

I’m not always a fan of Charlotte Tilbury creations but if there are some of her products that have never disappointed me, that would have to be her lipsticks, especially the Matte Revolution Lipsticks.

I did a review on the first color I bought here on the blog, almost 2 years ago (Love Liberty, still one of my faves). And errr well, since then, my Matte Revolution lipstick’s collection has slightly grown… I now own a dozen in total. (#lipstickaddictproblem, when I love a formula, I tend to buy the entire range…)

Recently, Charlotte Tilbury released a new collection of lipsticks, the Hot Lips collection.

Formula wise, nothing new, the 2 lipstick formulas already exist in the brand, the Matte Revolution and the K.I.S.S.I.N.G. lipsticks (which I spoke about in my article on the The Golden Goddess box review, with the Perfect Bitch lipstick).
In the Hot Lips collection, the packaging is slightly different from the classic Matte Revolution lipstick: the tube is embossed with a lip print, a charming little detail!

However, 12 colors among the 16 of the collection are new so I couldn’t help but buy 2, always in the Matte Revolution formula, which is my favorite:
Secret Salma (totally inspired by this beautiful post on Sal’s blog: UmmBaby Beauty)
Miranda May, for no other reason than this color seemed perfect for the season!

This Hot Lips collection is inspired by the famous girlfriends of Charlotte Tilbury (as usual, Ms. Tilbury loves to show that she’s friend with a lot of celebrities, #namedropping).
Anyway, a nice gesture from her is that for the first 2 months after the launch of the collection, the brand Charlotte Tilbury will donate $2 by Hot Lips lipstick sold to a charity organization (Women for Women International, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping women survivors of war and injustice).

I won’t do a detailed review of these lipsticks in this post, because I already did it when I reviewed Love Liberty a while back, but I thought it might be nice to you show my Matte Revolution lipsticks collection and also to do some swatches! smile

So here they are, in this order: Very Victoria, Between The Sheets, Amazing Grace, Secret Salma, Love Liberty, Bond Girl, Walk Of Shame, Red Carpet Red, Miranda May and 1975 Red.

Very Victoria:

Very Victoria is a beige nude almost taupe and I was a little bit scared it would be too brown for me. But in fact, and this is the case with many colors of this range, it’s very easy to wear and quite flattering. It has a cool undertone which works very well with my skin tone.

Between The Sheets:

Between The Sheets was released last winter, for Valentine’s Day (I think it’s sold out at the moment). It’s a soft baby pink, not too blue based (I don’t like bubble gum pink, it doesn’t suit me at all). The perfect color to go with a dark smokey eye for example (or any makeup look really wink ).

Amazing Grace:

Amazing Grace is a deep coral pink, with a warm undertone. It gives a lot of radiance to the face without being too bright.

Secret Salma:

Secret Salma (Hot Lips collection) is the typical pinky mauve shade I’m obsessed with at the moment. With a cool undertone, but not too purple, it’s flattering and enhances the green in my eyes. wink

Love Liberty:

Love Liberty or the one which started my obsession for the Matte Revolution lipsticks… It’s a beautiful berry pink, almost plum. A darker shade indeed, but very luminous. Typically the kind of colors I love to wear during fall and winter.

Bond Girl:

Bond Girl or the only brown lipstick I can wear without looking like I’m doing a casting for Buffy the vampire slayer. Well, it’s probably because despite its dominant brown color, it also has a very strong pink undertone, almost burgundy. I love this color, this is one of my favorite of the entire range. It’s kind of my ideal Kylie Jenner color! wink

Walk Of Shame:

Walk Of Shame and Bond Girl are so close that on the swatches side by side, it’s super hard to differentiate them. But believe it or not, they’re different! In fact, their undertone is different even if the base is quite similar. Walk Of Shame has a much warmer undertone than Bond Girl. It’s a beautiful orange-red, slightly brown, and there’s also a little bit of warm pink in it. Typically the kind of burnt red/ almost copper that I love for late summer and fall!

Red Carpet Red:

Red Carpet Red is a stunning cherry red, bright and luminous. This color is gorgeous. Its undertone is slightly cool, exactly what I like in a true red. It whitens the teeth, gives a lot of radiance to the face. It’s also very sophisticated.

Miranda May:

Miranda May (Hot Lips collection) is a true summer color. It’s a bright coral pink but quite light, so very easy to wear. Its coverage is not the best,  to be honest. I have to layer it a bit on the lips to get the color I want. But that being said, it layers quite well, and it doesn’t bleed nor smudge.

1975 Red:

1975 Red is discontinued but apparently it looks a lot like one of the new lipsticks released in the Hot Lips collection, Tell Laura. 1975 Red is a bright orange-red, like a geranium red. Sadly, I only can wear this kind of shade in summer or with a lot of bronzer, otherwise it clashes a bit with my skin tone. But I bet it will look fantastic on medium to darker skin colors. smile

Finally, here are the swatches:

In summary:

[wprs-pros][wprs-cons]

The Matte Revolution lipsticks are really one of my favorite matte-luminous lipstick formulas. They’re comfortable, with a good lasting power…
And the color range is stunning! What’s not to love? wink

Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips collection & Matte Revolution lipsticks are available on Charlotte Tilbury‘s website, Net-A-Porter and on Beautylish for $32.
