Today is the last part of my Makeup Geek lipsticks reviews! Let’s finally talk about the Plush Crème liquid lipsticks. Did this formula finally manage to convince me?
I apologize in advance if you already read this paragraph twice, but I just want to remind you that Makeup Geek released 3 types of lipsticks at the end of 2016:
– the Iconic Lipsticks: classic lipsticks in a tube, which exist in 2 finishes (matte and shine): I did a review about them here,
– the Plush Matte: liquid lipsticks with a matte finish: my review is here,
– the Plush Creme: liquid lipsticks with a cream finish.
As I said in my first review, at first, I had a hard time to understand the difference between the Plush Matte and the Plush Crème. Indeed, their texture is quite close, and they’re both liquid lipsticks. They’re also non-transfer-free, they’re in the same kind of packaging: a tube, with the same flat mousse applicator.
Their main difference is the finish: matte for the Plush Matte (you didn’t see that coming, did you? wink ) and satin/ cream for Plush Crème. (The cream version is also more comfortable, obviously)
Another thing: the capacity of the Plush Crème is more important than the Plush Matte ones (3ml in the Cream against 1.8ml in the Matte version). It’s still not a very generous product, but at least, it’s a little better! wink
So now, let’s focus on these Plush Crème liquid lipsticks! smile

The Plush Crème are liquid lipsticks with a satin finish. On me, the texture changes and mattifies slightly to become a kind of lip stain after a few hours. The pigmentation remains a long time on the lips, but the creamy texture fades after a few hours.
The Plush Crème are not really transfer-free, they stay creamy on the lips. So the brightest or darkest shades are a little bit high maintenance: they can stain, like any well-pigmented lipstick with this type of finish.
There are 10 shades in total in the range, and they retail for $14.
I chose 2 shades: Old Soul and Trophy Wife.
Makeup Geek Plush Crème liquid lipsticks, my test and thoughts:
– Packaging:
Like the matte version, it’s a pretty plastic tube with a metallic rose-gold/ gunmetal cap with the logo of Makeup Geek embossed on the top. It’s also the same mousse applicator which has a flat shape. It’s precise, and I don’t need a lip pencil with it.
The size of the Plush Crème tube is larger than the tiny Plush Matte lipsticks. Here, the capacity of the product is 3ml. It’s still a little bit smaller than the average equivalent products in other brands, but hey, it’s always better than the matte version. wink
– Texture and feeling on the lips:
The texture of this lipstick is described by the brand as between a cream and a foam. It’s a pretty accurate description. The texture is creamier than the Plush Matte lipsticks, which I found a little too dry.
The feeling on the lips is quite comfortable. They remain rather creamy, never dry completely on the lips and leaves the lips very supple when you wear them.
– Finish:
The finish is as its name suggests a cream/ satin finish. It gives a nice volume to the lips and it’s not too shiny. On me, this finish tends to become semi-matte over the hours and gradually turns into a “lip stain” with just the pigments without having any remaining texture on the lips after 4-5 hours.
– Scent:
They smell slightly like vanilla lemon, it’s very light and subtle.
– Pigmentation and coverage:
They are well pigmented and opaque on the lips.
With Trophy Wife, though, I have to be careful because the applicator tends to “move” the formula when I applied it. The result on the lips was not very even at first. I think it’s because of the foam texture which demands a little bit of practice at the beginning. However, when you learn how to apply it correctly, you can get a nice coverage on the lips.
– Color range:
10 colors in the range and unfortunately I have the same problem as I had with the Iconic Lipsticks and Plush Matte, I only like 2 out of 10. I like, the ones I ordered lol
Same things: I’m not a fan of these dull shades and all the purple/ grayish colors that I personally don’t find flattering at all. I think it’s a proven fact now: Marlena and I don’t share the same taste in lipstick colors! wink
– Application:
As I explained above, the texture cream/ mousse requires a little practice at first, but I really like the applicator, which allows me to draw a sharp lip contour.
– Lasting Power:
They last about 4-5 hours on me. It’s an average lasting power.
They evolve and fade on the lips over the hours but leave a stain on the lips. The texture disappears and only the pigments remain. They don’t crumble, I find that they “age” better on the lips than the matte version.
– Value for money:
The Makeup Geek Plush Crème retail for $14.
The value for money is OK as I like the formula and the packaging. If the color range could be wider with prettier shades, I would be thrilled! wink
Makeup Geek Plush Crème liquid lipsticks, the colors:
– Old Soul: I was a little bit confused with this shade at the start. It’s a purple pink almost lilac and with a grayish undertone. On me, this color only works if I pair it with a warm eye makeup look. Otherwise, the gray-lilac comes out too much and I look a little bit sick. But with an eye makeup in gold, copper or bronze tones, it works very well and balances the look. I think this color would probably more flattering on a medium to dark skin tone.
– Trophy Wife: a stunning pinky red, like a candy apple red. It’s so bright, it’s almost neon, I love the glow it gives to the face. It’s without a doubt my favorite color of this range!
* However, I must add that I really dislike its name: Trophy Wife. It’s such a bad name! I was laughing when I was editing my lip swatches photos, with the word “Trophy Wife” written next to my face! Lol (last week, same story with the word Cougar ah ah ah) (Marlena, can you please stop now with these cheesy/ awkward lipstick names? Thank you! wink )

Overall, I find the formula of these Plush Crème lipsticks better than their matte version and I’m quite happy with the colors I chose. Too bad that I’m not attracted to the rest of the colors. Hopefully, Marlena will decide to release other colors less grayish and dull, like some pretty nudes and flattering fresh shades for Spring! wink
