Last part of my ColourPop’s trilogy presentation! Today let’s focus on the Lippie Stix and Lippie Pencils…
Oddly enough, I was less attracted to ColourPop’s lip products than the rest. I could totally buy all the eyeshadows and blushes of the brand (I will probably end up owning every single one of them at one point if I keep on placing so many orders on their magical website), but I hesitated a lot before ordering my first Lippie Stix and Lippie Pencils. Surprising, for a lipstick addict like me, isn’t it?
I don’t know exactly what was holding me back, maybe an impression that the colors lacked a little in subtlety, I wasn’t sure…
Anyway, the brand has nearly 60 lipsticks references (the Lippie Stix) and over 50 lip pencils (the Lippie Pencils), so after a while, I decided to give them a go! And let’s admit it, I was curious to see if the quality was as good as for the Super Shock Shadows or Cheeks…
ColourPop Lippie Stix & Lippie Pencil, presentation:
In the ColourPop’s makeup range, the lip products almost always come in pairs: the lipstick with its matching lip pencil. And these lipsticks have the shape of a slim stick, almost like a pen. I guess that’s why they call them Lippie Stix.
As I told you in my blog post about the secret of Kylie Jenner’s pouty mouth, the lip pencil is definitely back as a trend and this young brand has totally understood it!

The Lippie Pencils:
The Lippie Pencils all have a matte finish and they really have a great texture.
Very easy to apply, almost creamy, they glide easily on the lips. They are perfect to make the Lippie Stix that you put on top last longer. They allow to define precisely the lip contour, and especially with dark colors, it is very practical.
Be aware however, they’re not automatic, you need to sharpen them after a while, the good old fashion way! wink
The Lippie Stix:
There are 5 different finishes in the Lippie Stix’s range:
– mat:
These are for me the best formula of the range. Although they’re very opaque and highly pigmented, they’re easy to apply, non drying and have a very long lasting-power.
– satin:
They are creamy and leave a satin finish on the lips (obviously). I’m not really a big fan of this formula, I think that they apply pretty badly and the color doesn’t fade very nicely on the lips. However, the lasting power and the pigmentation are quite good.
– glossy:
Very creamy, almost like a liquid lisptick, they have a glossy finish on the lips but still with a lot of opacity and coverage. They are super comfortable to wear. The lasting power is not exceptional but I think it’s quite normal for this type of formula.
I haven’t tried yet the hyper-glossy, pearlized and cream finishes so I can’t really tell you more about them yet. But as I will very certainly place more orders in ColourPop shop, I will probably tell you more about them in the future! wink
The application is really easy thanks to the hyper fine and precise packaging, I love it!
Although there are formulas that I’m not a fan of, I must admit that the overall pigmentation and the opacity of these are really impressive. The color you see in the stick will be the one you will have on your lips!
The color range is very wide, it’s really the big strength of this range. You can find some classic nudes, pink or red and some more unexpected shades like turquoise blue or even black. It’s simple, you can almost find everything!
The lasting power obviously depends on the finish but I must say that even for the creamier textures, it’s more than correct.
The Lippie Stix has a very strong sweet scent, like the smell of a cookie or maybe white chocolate. It doesn’t bother me but beware, the scent is not really subtle!
The other big advantage of these products (Lippie Stix and Lippie Pencils) is of course their teeny tiny price: $5. At that price, you really want to start a collection!
However, if you’re living outside of the US, they’re quite hard to find… but I’ve heard that the delivery to UK will be available very soon so fingers crossed for the rest of the world!!!

Lippie Stix:
I will mostly describe the Lippie Stix here because except for ‘Bound’, the Lippie Pencils I own have all the same color as their respective Lippie Stix.
Bichette: a true beautiful garnet red, deep and beautiful. It has a mat finish and I find it very easy to apply, the coverage is very good and it lasts pretty well without drying the lips.
I Heart This: a sublime red pink. I think this is probably my favorite of the bunch. It is very mat, and like Bichette, glides very well on the lips with a perfect pigmentation and opacity. It lasts a long time on me (almost 6 hours) and it’s comfortable to wear.
Lumière: a collab with KathleenLights, the youtuber, it’s a mauvy nude, very Kylie Jenner. Again, it’s a mat finish and has the same qualities as the previous two.
I struggle a little with this color because depending of the rest of the makeup you’re wearing, it appears more or less purple or nude. And on me, this purple is not super flattering. When I pair it up with warm colors for the rest of makeup (eyeshadow, blush), it’s much more flattering than when I do a total look with cool colors. (I’ve put a picture below in the article to illustrate this theory;) )
Fetch: a true Barbie pink, very “bubble gum”, in a satin finish. Well, that shade isn’t really a good fit on me. I find that it applies rather poorly, it has a good coverage but it’s not very homogeneous on the lips. It doesn’t adhere very well in some areas of my lips, and when it fades, it forms a kind of weird ring in the middle of the lips. The lasting power is not too bad but well, because it gets ugly after a few hours, you don’t really want to keep it on your lips…
In addition, the color isn’t the most flattering with my skin tone. I think if it had been more transparent, it would have been great but here, I’m not a fan.
But I tried to mix it with a lip balm to sheer it out and it was way better. There is hope! wink
Bound: a true light nude pink for the Lippie stix and the Lippie Pencil is more a nude beige. The combination of the two allows for a fairly sophisticated effect but also to play on the volume of the lips. Why not but I think the result will be prettier on me when I will have a bit of a tan. Now on my pale skin, I’m not very convinced, I must admit.
And I prefer the Lippie Stix worn alone without the Lippie Pencil which is too brown on me. The dark outline à la 90s, I know it’s very trendy right now, but personally, it reminds me of too many bad memories of ugly 90s makeup looks.
The finish is glossy and it’s very creamy. It’s very comfortable to wear and the lasting power is quite correct (3-4 hours). And it fades nicely, not like Fetch. If you like this kind of very 90’s shades, you will love Bound!
My favorites:
I Heart This (Stix and Pencil) and Bichette (Stix and Pencil).
And the one I’m not convinced about:
Fetch (Lippie Stix ).

As you can see, I’ve got mixed feelings about these ColourPop lippies.
In short, I would say that I do have a clear preference for the Lippie Pencils and the matte Lippie Stix. The other textures are more difficult to apply and the finish is not hyper subtle and flattering on my lips. Anyway, I’m still very curious to try the other finishes, especially the hyper-glossy and the cream. To be continued…

Sorry for the differences in color in some pictures, I shoot in natural light and the lighting depends on sunlight. So, it can change the colors a bit… uneasy

Great news! Worldwide delivery is finally available for ColourPop! (Well, to be precise, it will be tonight wink )
The brand is now delivering all over the world, except China and Turkey. I don’t know all the details yet but apparently the delivery fees will depend on the location and the weight of each package.
