YSL Volupté Tint-In-Oil #5, my review

YSL Volupté Tint-In-Oil #5, my review

Promises are made to be kept: here is my review of the new YSL lip product, the already famous YSL Volupté Tint-In-Oil!

Right now, I’m clearly obsessed with eyeshadows (my cosmetics obsession are always by phase and it’s quite scary, my girlfriends were clearly afraid for my mental health a few years ago when I had my nail polish crisis: I just wanted them ALL), but my inner lipstick-addict is never far away, I could not miss the very intriguing lip oils by Yves Saint Laurent!

Well, yes OK, Clarins also has one, but it’s only available in 2 colors. And one is transparent. Not so exciting, is it? wink (but it’s so much less expensive than the YSL version o_O)

YSL Volupté Tint-In-Oil #5 , presentation:

Again, Yves Saint Laurent plays the innovation card with its latest lip product!

I already spoke about the famous YSL “lip lacquer” launched a few years ago in my lip lacquers blog post, which was also a true innovation regarding the texture. Here, the promise of the Volupté Tint-In-Oil is to combine lip care (with nourishing oils) with color fantasy for a true hybrid 2-in-1 makeup product. This kind of texture also allows an ultra-shiny effect for glamorous shimmering lips.

About the lip care effect, the formula contains a combination of 5 nourishing oils: apricot kernel oil, macadamia nut oil, coriander oil, jojoba oil and passionflower oil.

The color range includes 8 different shades, which is not bad at all. However, watching the color swatches on Google, I haven’t found that there was a big difference between the colors. That’s why I chose the color #5 Cherry My Chérie, a more vivid pink.

Technology wise, the “Colour Link Infuse” process developed by the brand, allows pigments to uniformly mix with the oils, but also to spread continuously over time and gain in intensity over the time. The oils disappear after a few hours but the color remains imprinted on the lips, like a lip stain.

As always with Yves Saint Laurent, the packaging of the Volupté Tint-In-Oil is so nice and luxurious: an ultra-sleek silver bottle with a metallic ring color and inside, an applicator “mouth to mouth” very playful but mostly ultra functional for a very precise application.

The Tint-In-Oil’s texture is like a kind of oil-in-gel very easy to apply and not runny at all once applied. It’s not sticky at all, which is always nice! wink

Last important detail (yes, it is important wink ), the fruity fragrance (mango) makes it so fun and nice to use!

YSL Volupté Tint-In-Oil #5, my thoughts:

I am a big fan of the packaging. The bottle is very pretty ( it’s often the case with YSL) so my lipsticks collector self is fulfilled with this new jewel!
I find the applicator very impressive: you can’t miss with it. It’s truly ergonomic and precise. And the mouth shape is such a cute detail!!! wink

Usually, lip glosses are not really my thing because I don’t like the stickiness that some may have, but I still love the idea of ultra shiny ‘vinyl lips’.
With this product, it’s exactly the kind of effect you get just after application. Your lips are like a mirror! And it’s not sticky at all, which is always nice! wink

The lasting power is average for this kind of very shiny product. It didn’t last more than 2 hours on my lips, but as promised, the color remains imprinted on the lips, and didn’t fade for a few more hours.
Personally, I find it was a bit of a shame, I was hoping for a miraculous long lasting shine! Well, I guess it will take a bit of time for makeup brands to create some very shiny and very long-lasting products… wink

About the price, I’m not gonna lie, I find it very expensive ($32). I’d ‘happily’ pay that price for a very intense and long-lasting lip product, but not for a transparent one that doesn’t last more than 2 hours.

So, in summary:

[wprs-pros][wprs-cons]

So basically, I would say that YSL Volupté Tint-In-Oil is the ideal product to have in your handbag (which will immediately be upgraded with this little gem inside wink ).
It’s perfect to give a glam look and a splash of color to the lips while preserving their moisture during the day. The application is very easy (even without a mirror). And a product with such pretty packaging deserves to be shown in public! wink (Yes, I’m show off with my makeup, I know!)

And since it must be applied regularly to keep the shine, the best thing to do is to carry it with you all day! (gnark gnark)

Finally, here are the swatches:

It’s available in the US right now on the YSL website , and soon worldwide for $32.
