Oooh, great, a new bath and body range from The Body Shop with Wild Argan Oil…
That’s exactly what I thought when I walked past the window of The Body Shop store in the mall a couple of weeks ago.
I must say that as always, the packaging was more than attractive, and very Instagram-friendly. It’s just like liquid gold. Or honey. Well, it’s just beautiful, that’s all!
And obviously, the fact that it’s made with Argan Oil makes me want to try the product even more! At the moment, Argan Oil is really on fire. It’s just everywhere!
But first, I just want to be very clear: if you are looking for a 100% pure natural Argan oil, well, it’s clearly not the case with this The Body Shop range.
Regarding the formula and the ingredients, it’s more of a mixture of several vegetable oils (and other more conventional cosmetic ingredients). And the scent, even if it’s delicious, is clearly a free interpretation of what the scent of a wild Argan oil might be…
So for all the benefits of Argan oil: anti-aging, repairing, healing etc, I’m not convinced that this range is the most efficient…
And The Body Shop is using the organic community fair trade strong marketing argument with the local cooperative of Moroccan women who crack open the Argan nuts by hand. That’s all well and great, The Body Shop, but given the ridiculously small amount of Argan oil in your products, I doubt that Samira and her colleagues will become millionaires through you…
It’s really the image that I have from The Body Shop. A brand that surfs on every trend : “natural products”, “community fair trade”, “organic” “cruelty-free” etc, you just name it. But they seem to mostly be used as “good conscience” arguments. I’m not sure they truly believe in it. It’s still a L’Oréal brand, after all…
But anyway, that being said, it’s still a very nice range to use and it has undeniable nourishing effects on the skin. And, really, that’s all I’m asking for a cosmetic body range!
The Wild Argan Oil by The Body Shop range has 10 products, and I bought 3. But maybe I will come back and pick more to try later! Who knows? wink
Wild Argan Oil Shower Gel:
I love the shower gels from The Body Shop, they often have a really nice scent and are soap-free, so less drying of the skin than conventional shower gels.
This one is no exception, the scent is lovely, it makes a good foam and rinses off very easily. It leaves the skin supple and comfortable.
I’m not sure it is suitable for a very sensitive skin (it contains SLS which are not the softest of cleaning ingredients), but for a normal to dry skin (= mine), it’s perfect!
The Shower Gel’s price is 8$.
Wild Argan Oil The Radiant Oil for Body & Hair:
I hesitated a lot between The Radiant Oil and the Body Butter (I’m obsessed with the Body Butters from The Body Shop) but as it’s still quite warm here, the texture of the Radiant Oil is more suited to my desert climate. But this winter, when I will be freezing with an unbearable 20 degrees, I’d probably go for the Body Butter! wink
I’m a big fan of the packaging, finally a plastic bottle! So yes, it’s true, it’s less glamorous than the glass, but at least I’m not afraid to throw it down on the floor every time I’m using it.
However, I’m still not sure about the spray, I would have preferred a pump, but hey, perhaps it’s a matter of taste!
It is a very fine oil, which is quickly absorbed and leaves the skin very soft. The scent is just a joy. It’s very warm without being oppressive and sickening and leaves a subtle scent that last pretty well during the day. I regret that The Body Shop didn’t make a Body Mist in the same range, I would have loved it, I’m sure!
Regarding the ingredients, it is a mix of different vegetable oils (olive, Argan, sunflower) and other more conventional cosmetic ingredients. As I said earlier, do not expect to find a pure Argan oil, and far from it in this case.
About the nourishing effect, it is enough for a not too dry skin but I guess for a skin in desperate need of comfort, the Body Butter will be more appropriate.
It can also been applied on the hair but I haven’t tried it as I have always struggled to control the right amount of oil on my fine hair. I always find myself with greasy locks which is not really glamorous.
But I guess on thick, dry hair, it should do wonders!

Wild Argan Oil Miracle Solid Oil for Body & Hair:
This solid oil rather intrigued me, I must say. That’s why I wanted to try it.
The texture is like a kind of wax, it melts at the contact of your fingers and it’s pretty easy to take the right amount in this cute small round metal box.
Ingredients-wise, there is also a mix of vegetable butters and oils (coconut, Argan oil, Carnauba wax, Shea butter) that really intensify the nourishing and restorative effect. Again, it’s not a 100% natural product.
This Solid Oil is perfect for really dry body areas: elbows, knees, heels, cuticles…
But what I love to do, is to put on my dry hair lengths! I don’t have the feeling of “greasing” my hair at all and it leaves my hair really soft.
The absorption is super fast and the scent is like the rest of the range, to die for.
The Miracle Solid Oil’s price is 14$.
