The brand Caudalie, well known in France, just arrived here in Dubai.
For the occasion, I was invited to the brand launch event, which took place in a wine bar, specifically: Cave in Conrad hotel in Dubai.

This kind of event is very interesting for me because it’s the opportunity to meet people from the brand and learn more about the products.

It was the first brand event here in Dubai where I was invited as a blogger and I can say that the brand made a lot of effort to organize this event.
I did not learn anything new about the brand, because I already know most this is to know, more or less (in France, it is a brand that you come across rather often) and secondly, there was no real presentation by the people from Caudalie about the brand, just a very short movie to introduce the concept of the brand.
But, they were ready and available to answer our questions.
About the story of Caudalie…

Why bring this up? Well because the story of Caudalie, and it’s history are important!
Caudalie is a French brand, founded by a couple, Mathilde and Bertrand Thomas.
Mathilde’s family have worked in the vineyards of Bordeaux for a long time and the couple decided to create the brand after meeting a professor specialized in the research on polyphenols.
Polyphenols are anti-aging ingredients (anti-radical, to be more precise) very powerful, and can be found in grape extract.
Overall, Mathilde , Bertrand Thomas and Professor Vercauteren developped the first products of the Caudalie brand and started to sell them in a few chemists in Bordeaux (South of France).
A few years later, they created the first spa that relies on the principle of the Vinothérapie, which by the way is not the principle of being cured by drinking wine all day (I would have liked it, but it’s not), it combines the benefits of hot spring water with the extracts of the vine and grapes to heal the skin.
The brand has been very successful in France and is now changing to adopt a more international development, with the opening of stores in New York, London… and launching in other markets such as Asia and of course just recently the Middle East.
Caudalie, is a kind of a French success story, and it’s a pretty cool story to hear, I think. In any case, it is unfortunate that we weren’t told about this at all during the launch event, but hey…
As a French beauty addict, I wasn’t really discovering the brand. In the past, I’ve actually used a lot of Caudalie products. Some I liked very much (body products, mostly) and others less (some face products).
My impression is that of a very sensory brand, especially regarding the scents and the textures but not necessarily with huge results in the efficiency of the products.
At the end of the evening, we were given several products to try, so I’ve currently been testing the serum that I was interested in for a while, and as soon as I’m done with it, I will share my thoughts…
But back to the Divine Oil by Caudalie*:
Divine Oil by Caudalie
It’s funny because I had already wanted to try the Divine Oil by Caudalie when I was in France, but when I smelled the tester in a pharmacy, I didn’t like the fragrance and instead purchased my old time favorite Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse.
It’s very strange because when I tried the product for this review, I really loved the scent! No idea why I remember this very flowery smell when Oil Divine has a rather more fruity-floral and very solar scent. I just love the smell!
So about the action of the Divine Oil by Caudalie, it is supposed to be multi-function, so it can be applied on the body, face and hair. It is nourishing and softening and can even be poured into the bath, for a very fancy bath moment.
So with my oily skin, applying the product on my face was not really a good idea. I have an acne prone skin (yeah, at 35 years old, I am delighted) (hey, I guess when I’m really old, I will always have the impression of being a teenager), so because there is Shea butter in the formula, I prefer to using it on my face (yes, Shea butter is great for dry skin but it is sadly comedogenic).
Regarding the composition, it’s a good one: no chemical preservatives, no mineral oils, no animal ingredients, no silicones (which is not the case with all the products, what a pity, Caudalie! Avoiding the silicones would be far better for your “green” image).
So in this oil, there is a mix between 4 vegetable oils: grapeseed, argan, sesame and hibiscus, which have nourishing, soothing and restorative powers. There is also the famous polyphenols that have anti-free radical properties.
However, there is a dry oil, so it penetrates quickly into the skin and doesn’t leave a greasy residue on the skin, making a perfect product for the summer. I always prefer this kind of texture in the summertime, because a body cream always tends to leave me feeling sticky with this heat.
I was never sure that my skin was properly moisturized with a dry oil (the Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse is not the best moisturizer if you have a very dry skin) but I had a really feeling of comfort while using the Caudalie Divine Oil. Rather effective, then!
The product can be found in Bin Sina pharmacies in Dubai, and costs 164 AED (which is nearly 10 euros more than what it costs in France, ouch).

I can’t really comment on the multi-function effect because I just applied it on my body.
In conclusion, is it a product I would purchase?
Yes, without a doubt because I found it overall very pleasant to use but I would buy it in France (to pay it 20 euros, not 164 AED ;)).
In the US the price is $49 on Amazon or SpaceNK.
